The bench features hand-embroidered scripts about the rich thoughts and feelings inside the minds of neurodivergent people. “Neurodivergence” is often used to describe people on the autism spectrum and those with Asperger’s and ADHD. Neurodivergent minds are often too sensitive and complex to express themselves clearly and be understood well. On the bench, the layered and convoluted ruffles make the text almost illegible to read, reflecting the struggle of those trying to be understood.
